Registration

  • How do I register for the conference?

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 and the new online format, registration is no longer required. You will be able view research posters online during the week of April 19th. 

  • How do I submit a presentation abstract?

The abstract submission deadline (February, 28th) has past. No more abstracts are being accepted.

  • How do I cancel my registration for the conference?

If you would like to cancel your registration or withdraw your abstract submission, please email us at WNYPsychConference@gmail.com.

  • When is the abstract submission deadline?

The abstract submission deadline (February, 28th) has past. No more abstracts are being accepted.

  • Will I receive a confirmation of my abstract submission?

You will be sent an automated response once your abstract submission has been received.

  • Will I be notified if I am selected to present?

Yes, you will be notified if you are selected to present or not. If you are not selected to present, we encourage you to attend the conference regardless to see other presentations and to network with fellow WNY psychology students and faculty.

  • What are the costs of attending this conference?

This conference was created with the intent to provide low-cost research presentation experience to students of Western New York. As such, there are no direct costs associated with attending the conference. Registration is free! If you feel there are costs that you need help covering, we encourage you to investigate funding for experiential learning at your home university.

  • What time of day will the conference be?

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 and the new online format, poster presentations will be available online for viewing the week of April 19th. 

  • I'm not presenting, can I attend the conference?

Absolutely! We would love for you to attend the conference and learn more about various psychological topics. 

  • I'm not a psychology student, can I attend the conference?

Yes! Although the conference is about psychology, all students are welcome to attend the conference.


Presentation Details

  • What are the possible presentation formats?

Students may present an oral or poster presentation. UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 and the new online format, we are no longer offering oral presentations. If you originally requested an oral presentation, you are encouraged to present your research project as a poster instead,

  • Can I do an oral and a poster presentation?

No, sorry. To allow as many applicants as possible to present, each student will only be able to present one project. We would like to note, however, that students not selected to give oral presentations may be offered the opportunity to present a poster.

  • What are the suggested dimensions for posters?

UPDATE: Life-sized posters are recommended to be 36 in. by 48 in. However, since posters will be displayed online, we recommend dimensions of approximately 1200 x 900 pixels.

  • NEW: How do I submit my poster presentation to the new online conference format?

Submit your poster as a single, high resolution PDF or image with the dimensions of approximately 1200 x 900 pixels to WNYPsychConference@gmail.com by April 15th, 2020. Please limit your file size to a maximum of 2 MB.

  • NEW: Due to COVID-19, I haven't collected all of my data. Can I still present a poster?

Yes! We recognize that many students are unable to complete their data collection or statistical analyses due to COVID-19. However, we want students to continue to have the opportunity to create research posters to the best of their abilities. Thus, posters with preliminary analyses or expected results and discussions will be accepted.

  • I'm not a psychology student, can I still present at the conference?

Any student who does work within the field of psychology, neuroscience, or a related field is welcome to submit an application to present at the conference, regardless of their major. We look forward to seeing your submission!

  • I don't have data yet, can I still present at the conference?

Yes, incomplete projects may be presented, but the inclusion of preliminary analyses is encouraged. Feel free to contact us with additional questions at WNYPsychConference@gmail.com.
